About me
I am a professional licensed mental health counselor living and working in Seattle, Washington. I grew up in Southern California, made my way up to Northern California to attend college, and then headed to the mountains to the beautiful town of Boulder for my graduate studies.
I hold a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health with a Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling concentration from Naropa University, a Tibetan Buddhist university for contemplative education. My concentration explored mental and emotional health through the lens of contemporary psychologies as well as through the world’s spiritual traditions.
In conjunction with my graduate program, I received intensive in-depth training in couples counseling through the PACT (Psychobiological Approach To Couple Therapy) Institute. PACT looks at relationships through the lens of attachment theory, neuroscience, and physiological arousal.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
Within a mindfulness framework, I draw extensively from transpersonal, humanistic-existential, cognitive-behavioral, Gestalt and experiential therapies.
When I first arrived in Seattle, I worked on a crisis team providing crisis intervention and stabilization to individuals in mental health and substance abuse crises. I then transitioned to working at a medical clinic providing therapy to patients who were referred by their Primary Care Providers for depression and anxiety treatment. I have also provided therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups at a mind-body-spirit healing center; worked with adolescents at both a residential treatment facility and homeless shelter; taught psychology and analytical writing in higher education; and worked with children in a classroom to support their cognitive, social, and emotional development.
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring our city, hiking in the mountains, going for walks, playing board games, reading, playing tennis and table tennis, painting, doing puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
